Accessibility
We want every parent, volunteer and supporter to be able to use this website — whatever device or assistive technology they use. This page explains what we do to make that possible, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
1. Our commitment
Leyland Playscheme aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across this website. As a charity we are not legally required to publish an accessibility statement, but an inclusive scheme deserves an inclusive website, so we hold ourselves to the same standard as the public sector.
2. What we do
- Pages use proper headings and landmarks, with a contents menu on longer pages, so screen readers and keyboard users can move around quickly.
- Everything works with a keyboard alone — menus, accordions and forms included — and forms announce their errors and link each one to the field it belongs to.
- Every meaningful image carries alternative text, which our editing tools require before an image can be used.
- Text and background colours are chosen for contrast, and text can be resized in your browser without breaking the layout.
- Nothing plays automatically: videos load and play only when you choose to press play.
- The site works on phones, tablets and desktops, and does not require any particular device or app.
3. What we know needs work
- Some of our downloadable documents (for example older PDFs) were not created with accessibility in mind. If you need one in a different format, ask us and we will provide it.
- Occasionally a page embeds content from another organisation — for example a map or a booking service. We cannot always fix accessibility problems inside those, but we will pass your feedback on and help you another way in the meantime.
4. Tell us about a problem
If any part of this website is hard to use, or you need information from it in another format — large print, plain text, or over the phone — contact us and we will put it right or find another way to get you what you need.
Email pdm@playscheme.org and tell us which page you were on and what went wrong. Accessibility reports go straight to the people who run the website.
