Our story
The biggest scheme of its kind
Leyland Playscheme is a registered charity (no. 1179704) running a subsidised holiday playscheme for children aged 4 to 14, across two summer weeks — one at Leyland, one at Samlesbury. Over 1,000 children and 300 volunteers attend each week, making it the biggest scheme of its kind in the UK.
How the scheme is run
The scheme is 100% volunteer-run — nobody takes a salary. Fees from families cover only part of what a week costs, and the rest comes from fundraising and from people and businesses in and around Leyland. That is what keeps the scheme heavily subsidised and within reach of every family.
Policies & safeguarding
The welfare of the child is paramount. Every volunteer is trained, DBS-checked and supervised, and our governance documents — safeguarding first among them — are published for anyone to read.
Come and see for yourself
The best way to understand playscheme is to be part of it.
